US air strikes kill 13 civilians in Afghanistan

According to media reports 13 civilians have been killed and scores injured in a result of US airstrikes against militants in Kunduz province. There were reportedly a fierce battle ground between the Afghan forces and Taliban that has witnessed several air raids.

Local officials and residents confirm that the airstrikes targeted few villages on Friday night in Chardara district of Kunduz province.

Over the past few days the Afghan forces have been engaged in some fierce battles with Taliban in the mentioned district of strategically important province of Afghanistan.

However, spokesman for the US military in Afghanistan, Capt Tom Gresback, stated US military were looking into the allegations of civilian casualties. Kunduz has become a major ground of contest after Taliban stormed the provincial capital in 2015.
