A high-ranking commander of Islamic State Khorasan Province got killed in an airstrike in the northern province Jowzjan, Afghanistan. Qari Hikmat was one of the top commanders of the IS-PK had moved to northern Afghanistan where he was leading IS-PK operations.
Qari Hikmat got killed in the Mughal village of Darzab district of Jowzjan province. Afghan Ministry of Defense released a press briefing terming Qari Hikmat to be “one of the key figures” of IS in the northern parts of Afghanistan.
The killings of Qari Hikmat is a blow to the IS in Afghanistan. This comes at a time when the United States along with Afghan Forces have dialed up attacks against the IS-PK across the country.
