KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani called Chairman of Pakistan Tahreek Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Sunday and congratulated him on his victory in the general elections of Pakistan.
In a statement that was posted on his Twitter, President Ashraf Ghani stated that he extended an open invitation to Imran Khan and he expressed his desires to visit Kabul soon.
“I just spoke to Imran Khan and congratulated him on the victory in parliamentary elections,” President Ghani tweeted.
“We both agreed to overcome the past and to lay a new foundation for a prosperous political, social and economic future of both countries #Afghanistan and #Pakistan,” he stated.
On July 25 general elections in Pakistan, Pakistan Tahreek Insaf led by Imran Khan won majority seats and unseating many of his strong rivals in many constituencies.
Imran Khan who has once declared war in Afghanistan as a Jihad has stated in his post-election speech that he is eying to resolve issues with Afghanistan as cordial relations with Afghanistan is in the best interests of Pakistan.
