Protesters demand military aid to Ghazni districts under Taliban siege

KABUL: Hundreds of protesters during a protest rally closed the main roads for traffic as they demand government to ensure the security of the districts in southern Ghazni and central Uruzgan provinces.

The protesters calling on the government to purge Khas Uruzgan, Jaghori and Malistan districts from Taliban presence and dispatch emergency assistance to displaced families.

Taliban’s attacks underway in the certain districts since the past 15 days and dozens of people had been killed and many families forced to leave their homes.

The march which begun later at night, chanting “Jaghori, Malistan, immediate security” outside of Presidential Office.

The government had dispatched Commando forces, but local security officials saying that many Commando forces were killed in today’s Taliban ambush. The militants have also received heavy casualties during the clashes.

Ministry of Defense says additional troops were sent to the said districts and Taliban’s attacks were repulsed.
