To support education related operations in Helmand province, local Taliban and provincial directorate of Ministry of Education of Helmand province signed an agreement.
The agreement indicates that the Taliban would allow Education Ministry officials to freely operate and support educational activities at the war-torn province of Helmand. The agreement articles ensure government employees that they can freely move in areas controlled by Taliban.
Taliban commanders also ensure that people who have illegally occupied the lands of Ministry of Education in areas under their control will be taken back and handed over to the provincial directorate of Education.
The agreement comes at a time when the Taliban destroyed and closed down hundreds of schools in areas under their influence in particularly in southern, eastern and south-eastern parts of the country.
