The Afghanistan National Futsal Team beat Uzbekistan by 4-3 in its second match in the 2023 CAFA Futsal Cup.
The match was held on Monday in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe.
Afghanistan won its first match against Kyrgyzstan on Sunday, securing a thrilling 5-4 victory, setting the tone for the competition.
“It was a wonderful match,” Majid Mortazaie, head coach of the national futsal team, expressed his satisfaction after the victory. “I am just blissed out. More so, I am thrilled that this win has brought joy and happiness to the people of Afghanistan.”
Afghanistan is currently standing at the top of the ranking. The team is gearing up to play next against Iran on Wednesday, which won the CAFA Futsal Championship last year.
CAFA is a futsal competition for the member nations of the Central Asian Football Association. This year’s competition is hosted by Dushanbe, and the participating teams include Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.
