The Taliban intelligence arrested founder of penpath, human rights and education activist, Matiullah Wesa, in Kabul today, as per multiple sources.

Wesa was arrested by Taliban intelligence personnel following offering evening prayer in Kabul, a source told The Afghan Herald.

His arrest comes a day after he tweeted on Sunday that men, women, elderly, young, everyone from every corner of the country are asking for the Islamic rights to education for their daughters.

“Men, women, elderly, young, everyone from every corner of the country are asking for the Islamic rights to education for their daughters. Penpath female volunteers calls for girls education and their rights to education #PenPathGirlsEduCampaign #PenPathGirlsEduCampaign,” he tweeted.

This comes as Manzoor Pashteen, Founder & Head of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement has also confirmed detenstion of Matiullah Wesa in Kabul.

“Taliban earlier today arrested Matiullah Wesa education activist in Kabul. A week ago Human Rights activist Noorayel Kaliwal was arrested and still in detention in Helmand. Such arbitrary detentions must stop. #ReleaseMatiullahWesa #ReleaseNoorayelKaliwal,” he tweeted.
